Congratulations to Brady Roberts and Julia Pruin, along with Dr. Bainbridge, Monica Rosenberg, and Megan deBettencourt for their publication in the Psychonomic Bulletin & Review titled “Memory augmentation with an adaptive cognitive interface.” This study investigates how intrinsic memorability and attentional state affect memory performance. The team presented images based on participants’ attention levels, finding that while memorable images are resilient during attention lapses, they cannot be further enhanced by engaged attention. Conversely, low-memorability images can be better remembered when encoded during attentive states. This work highlights how adaptive cognitive interfaces can optimize memory by tailoring information presentation in real-time. To learn more, read the paper here!
