Congratulations to Emma Megla, Samuel R. Rosenthal, and Dr. Bainbridge for their publication in Cognition titled “Drawings reveal changes in object memory, but not spatial memory, over time.” This research examines how memory evolves over time, revealing that while object recall diminishes and can lead to false memories, spatial memory remains accurate and largely unaffected by time. Using crowdsourced evaluations of drawings made from memory, the team found that memory features such as object recall depend heavily on time, while spatial accuracy is consistent. They also identified predictors for object recall based on location, meaning, and saliency. To learn more, read the paper here!
